Passionate about supporting schools and communities by promoting health, wellness and physical activities, Jamba Juice is sponsoring the It’s All About the Fruit Grant Program to provide schools with fruit trees to create engaging nutrition and gardening experiences. 20 recipients will receive fruit trees valued at $500 and the Jamba Juice It’s All About the Fruit Youth Garden Guide. The National Gardening Association is proud to announce a new sponsorship program by Yum! Brands. In an effort to help all schools sow the seeds of respect, the Muhammad Ali Center Peace Garden is designed to help schools teach lessons of peace and hunger awareness through garden activities. As a global initiative, the United States and all international locations are eligible for participation. In 2011, 50 grant packages will be awarded. Download an application.
2011 Welch’s Harvest Grant ~ Deadline: February 11, 2011
As a family farmer owned company that is proud to grow and nurture grapes, Welch's values the importance of healthy eating. In partnership with Scholastic and the National Gardening Association, Welch's will award 95 garden packages worth $500 and 5 packages worth $1,000. Bonnie Plants 3rd Grade Cabbage Program ~ Register by March 1, 2011
Each year, Bonnie Plants distributes free cabbage plants to third graders across the country to foster an interest in gardening and the environment. Cabbages are delivered to students whose teachers have signed up to participate. Students in these third grade classrooms each get their very own cabbage to plant, take care of and harvest. The cabbages produce oversized heads, making the process even more exciting for kids. As part of the program, Bonnie gives a $1,000 award to one student in each state. Find out more.
JMG Plant Parts Canned Food Drive
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, the Junior Master Gardener Program challenges you to organize a Plant Parts Food Drive. Have your students collect canned goods for donation to a local food bank – then categorize each can received by each part of the plant (roots, stems, leaves, flower, fruit, and seeds). This service project will help create hunger awareness, aid with the problem in your local area and include a great lesson on plant parts! Learn more.

The American Honda Foundation supports youth education programs with a specific focus on the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects in addition to the environment. Grants range from $20,000 to $60,000. Click here for more details.

Project Learning Tree GreenWorks! Polliantor Garden Grants ~ December 1
In 2010, Project Learning Tree and the USDA Forest Service are offering grants to teachers and students participating in PollinatorLIVE: A Distance Learning Adventure. Participating teachers can apply for GreenWorks! funding to create pollinator gardens in their schoolyard or community. The maximum grant amount is $500, and the deadline to apply is December 1st, 2010. Learn more.

The Grant for Educators challenges individuals, groups or small businesses to develop and deliver learning experiences to the public. The grant recognizes innovative projects that enhance herbal education in school systems, in communities, or in any public forum (electronic or person-to-person). 2010 Golden Carrot Awards~ Deadline: Rolling
The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is seeking nominations for its Golden Carrot Awards for outstanding school food service professionals who have developed and implemented a healthful and successful school lunch program. The grand prize winner will receive $1,500 and a $3,500 check made out to her or his school or school district. Up to four additional awards will be given, with $500 going to the food service professional and $500 to benefit the school food service program. Shade Structure Program
The American Academy of Dermatology's Shade Structure Program awards grants in the amount of $8,000 each for the purchase of permanent shade structures designed to provide shade and ultraviolet (UV) ray protection for outdoor areas. The AAD also provides a permanent sign to be displayed near the shade structure that promotes the importance of sun safety.
