Front of House Manager

As part of the Training team, the Front of House Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Inspiration Kitchens Restaurant.   Inspiration Kitchens is a comprehensive training program designed to equip its participants with basic culinary skills necessary for employment in food service.  The Front of House Manager is a full-time position, and some of the major responsibilities include: provide services in an atmosphere of dignity and respect in accordance with the agency’s mission; set policies and procedures for front of house; schedule employees in the absence of the General Manager; supervise, train and coach employees and trainees; enforce health and safety regulations; ensure food quality and customer satisfaction; with the General Manager, control waste and food cost; manage restaurant finances, including making bank deposits, reviewing cashier close out reports, tracking income and producing financial statements; manage Inspiration Kitchens-Uptown’s web site and online presence; maintain city licenses and permits for daily operations; formulate and execute marketing strategies; communicate possible problems to General Manager; network with businesses, social service organizations, and government entities to develop partnerships that move homeless and low-income persons into the hospitality workforce and that provide career advancement.

Available:                    December 2010
Salary:                         Commensurate with education & experience
Reports to:                 General Manager

Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university; plus one year of related experience.  Must have knowledge of basic accounting principles. Must have prior management experience in a retail or culinary enterprise.  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Publisher and Fund EZ, ONE POS or NEXT POS.  Works non-standard hours, based on need at restaurant, including evenings and weekends. Attends evening, weekend, and early morning meetings and functions as required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
