The Lasting Outcome of the Recession - Child Homelessness
The Heartland Alliance recently released a report detailing homelessness during the recession, "and the statistics are staggering. The recession has forced middle class families into poverty at alarming rates. The national poverty rate among children will soon hit a record high of 25%. Of children living with homeless parents, 43% of them are under the age of six. The situation in Chicago is even worse as the child poverty rate in the city is 31%..."
