Youth-Led Juvenile Justice Teach-In

Youth ages 12 to 24 are invited to join Project NIA and the Southwest Youth Collaborative for this important and exciting event. Youth from the Southwest Youth Collaborative will share information about their campaign to close the Audy Home (Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center). They will also engage participants in hands-on activities to support their campaign. Project NIA will discuss the UN-marked campaign which is focused on education and advocacy about juvenile expungement of criminal records. Participants will learn about how they can get involved in on-going advocacy efforts. This event is co-sponsored by the Mansfield Institute for Social Justice.

Visual Storytelling for Community Accountability: Healing, Intervention, and Transformation - A Workshop with the Beehive Collective

Interested in creating collective responses to incidents of relationship violence? Collective strategies for communal healing, intervention and accountability, as well as community-based prevention and transformation?
Join us in a workshop with the Beehive Collective We will develop collective responses to violence, generate visual metaphors and images, and learn the steps to creating graphic campaigns. The Bees will share tips and tricks learned through years of collaboratively producing educational, story-telling graphics. At the end of the workshop, participants will come away with ideas for creative interventions into everyday relationship violence. This event is co-sponsored in collaboration with Building Community, Ending Violence (of the Women & Gender Research Institute), the Women's Center, and Peace Justice & Conflict Studies, all at Depaul University.

Important: This is an on-going training program for which participants had to apply. We are making a limited number of spaces available to members of the public who would like to attend individual sessions but cannot participate in the full training. Individuals who would like to register for these sessions must commit to attending the FULL DAY in order to prevent any disruptions of the on-going program.
NO WALK-INS will be accepted - all participants must PRE-REGISTER.
