With spring quickly approaching, it is the time of year when many students start exploring summer opportunities. We would like let you know about a special summer program that Lincoln Park Zoo has to offer for Chicago high school students.
We are now accepting 1st- Year Participant applications for the Malott Family Zoo Intern Program. During this paid internship, students learn informal-education techniques, public-speaking skills and information about animal science and conservation.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
* City of Chicago resident
* Entering grades 10, 11, 12 or college freshman
* Between the ages of 15-18
* Legally able to work in the United States
The Malott Family Zoo Intern Program is from June 20 - August 15. Students will work 4-5 days each week as on-grounds interpreters for the education department. In addition, during the program interns will:
* Meet other interns and zoo staff
* Participate in icebreakers and team-building activities
* Become familiar with the zoo and how it functions
* Learn interpretation skills and techniques
* Gain knowledge about many topics related to animals, conservation and research at Lincoln Park Zoo
To provide a quality program, we have limited participation to 13 1st-Year interns. All completed applications received will be reviewed and some applicants will be asked to attend an interview.
