Women in Manufacturing Program *NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS*

I am excited to announce that I am now recruiting for our upcoming Women in Manufacturing Program at Jane Addams Resource Corporation! Our next class will begin in August 2011 and I will be holding weekly orientations throughout the summer. The class is still FREE and meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s from 6-8:30pm at JARC’s Technical Training Center located in the Ravenswood area.   

Things that have changed about our Women in Manufacturing Program are:
1. WMP’s focus has shifted from Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine Operation to Welding
2. The class is now 32 weeks/235 hours of hands-on manufacturing training
 
Eligibility requirements to keep in mind when referring participants to WMP:
1. Women must be working and earning between $10,000 and $40,000 a year
2. Head of household
3. Lives in Chicago
 
Please feel free to post my attached flyer, resend my email and spread the word to your participants, coworkers, colleagues, etc. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me!
I would also be happy to do a site visit and chat with your staff or participants about The Women in Manufacturing Program and all of JARC’s programs (CNC Manufacturing Training programs, Computer Classes, GED, Adult Tutoring, Center for Working Families services, etc).

WOMEN IN MANUFACTURING
FREE job training includes:

32 weeks, 235 hours of hands-on manufacturing training
with a focus on Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding
Evening Classes (beginning August 2011)
Job Placement Assistance
Financial, Computer and Workplace Readiness classes
Forklift License and OSHA Safety Standard Classes
Assistance with transportation, housing and childcare while
in school
What are the eligibility requirements?
Must be a woman earning between $10,000 and $40,000 per year
Must be the head of your household
Must live in the city of Chicago
What does a career in Welding look like?
Many welding jobs are in fabricated metal manufacturing, transportation equipment, aerospace and
machining manufacturing.
Entry level welding jobs usually pay $10-$13 an hour.
Advancement in welding jobs is possible with training and experience. Higher skilled and paid positions are
held by welding supervisors, technicians, inspectors and instructors.
When will classes meet?
Classes meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6-8:30pm at JARC’s Technical Training
Center (4222 N Ravenswood); Montrose stop on the Brown Line, West side of the Metra Tracks
What you will learn in our training
The Women in Manufacturing Program will teach basic principles in MIG Welding and other welding processes
such as TIG & Stick, Quality Control and Safety to prepare students for entry level welding positions.
Opportunities to earn a Forklift license, OSHA Safety certificate, Certificate of Completion and more!
