Administrative and Development Coordinator
Job Description and Responsibilities
 
The Center for New Community’s Administrative and Development Coordinator will have responsibilities for coordinating administrative functions for the organization. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong multi-tasking skills and experience; the ability to assure timely completion of multiple responsibilities; proven relational skills with a wide variety of people; and a fundamental commitment to the mission of the Center.

The Administrative Coordinator will report to the Center’s Executive Director and Operations and Human Resource Manager and will be based in its national office in Chicago.
 
 
Principal Responsibilities
Organizational Operations
 
·         Perform all tasks related to office administration, functions, and operations (including, for example, ordering/purchasing supplies and equipment, assuring equipment is maintained)
·         Coordinate board and staff meetings, and additional meetings as needed
·         Assist in organizing organizational events, trainings, and conferences.
·         Manage and distribute incoming mail and manage other general communications
·         Maintain and manage the electronic database
·         Maintain organization paper files
·         Assist the Executive Director with travel and other administrative needs
·         Compile, transcribe, and distribute minutes of meetings
·         Maintain staff communications on behalf of the Executive Director
 
 
 
Development Coordination
·         Assists in special events, such as fundraising activities 
·         Assist the Executive Director in preparing and submitting institutional grant proposals
·         Maintain and manage organizational donor data base
·         Maintain an accurate and updated institutional funder grants file, including report deadlines
·         Assist with the generation and timely and accurate submission of financial reports to all institutional funders
·         Oversee donor mailings and assure timely acknowledgements of same

Other Responsibilities
·         Represent the Center for New Community in a professional manner within the organization and externally, and participate in all staff gatherings as requested/required
·         All other duties as assigned.
 
Requirements
·         Demonstrated, oral, written, and computer literacy skills are required.
·         High energy and leadership, and ability to work alone and as part of a team
·         Ability to work internally and externally in a diverse, ethnic, and multi-racial environment.
·         Experience and comfort working as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural staff and knowing how to combine assets available to the staff in a way that maximizes its ability to function at a high level.
·         Ability to relate well to a wide variety of people, to work independently and to plan, coordinate and carry out many tasks simultaneously.
·         At least two 2-3 years experience in general office responsibilities and operations
·         Knowledge of principles and practices of basic office management and organization. 
·         Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of bookkeeping. 
·         An operational understanding of race and racism in American society.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Compensation
Compensation for the position is commensurate with experience; starting salary will range from $26,000 to $31,000. A generous Flexible Benefits program is provided, along with vacation and holidays, and an annual pension contribution following the first year of employment.
