Salary: The minimum annual salary is: $29,758. – Maximum $

Position Summary Under the general direction of the school principal, and under the

immediate supervision of a teacher holding a valid state certificate, Teacher

Assistant will assist in the supervision of students during lunchroom and playground

activities, provide security functions within the school such as monitoring corridors

and assists students in understanding and completing classroom assignments,

assist in the instruction of pupils before and after school. Complete other duties

assigned by principal and other administrative staff. Work cooperatively with

teacher and students. Have some familiarity with an IB school. Have some

knowledge or desire to learn about global issues with an inquiry based approach to

learning. Have high expectations of all students. Must be flexible in terms of school

wide responsibilities. Must be punctual in attendance. Must be enthusiastic and

committed to the well being of all students.

Qualifications Training and Experience. Completion of an Associate’s degree or

higher from a college or university accredited by the North Central Association or

another regional accrediting body, and written and verbal proficiency in English,

supplemented by at least one year of work experience involving the care and

supervision of children with disabilities.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skill. Good knowledge of the characteristics of students

with various disabilities, good knowledge of English grammar and spelling, good

knowledge of basic mathematics. Ability to work with and for students with various

disabilities, ages birth to twenty-one (21) years of age; ability to follow written and

oral instructions and direction; ability to complete and maintain basic written
reports. (Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is highly desirable.
