Dear Camp Professional,
Camp is the one experience every director misses. The intensity of community living, away from home, in a beautiful natural setting is something we all work hard to create. Then, when the summer comes, we orchestrate that experience for others, without benefitting from it as directly as campers do. The answer: DIRECTORS’ CAMP.
DIRECTORS’ CAMP was once described by a participant as “the ultimate anti-conference.” There are no competing sessions, no phony keynotes, no overpriced meals, no vendor hall, and no crowds. Sounds great, right? It’s better than great! Directors’ Camp is uniquely wonderful. Best of all, it is co-hosted by Scott Arizala, Steve Maguire and me—three close friends who understand camp and have complementary professional skills.
DIRECTORS’ CAMP is an intensive weekend of professional development, intentionally liberated from electronic technology and carefully sequestered on the shores of beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire. By returning to the core values and practices of traditional camping, you and 29 other directors will sharpen your focus, nurture your creativity, and redefine your roles as camp professionals. Put yourself in campers’ shoes (and shirts and shoes and cabins!) for the weekend and transform your thinking about what it is you do. Our 2011 dates are Friday, September 30th through Sunday, October 2nd.
What’s on the program? Well…that depends on you! Last year’s participants chose to focus on:
· Appreciative inquiry
· Balancing work and family
· Advanced leadership and supervision
· Internal leadership development with staff
· Creating an unforgettable and healthy culture
· Running educational and motivating staff meetings
This year, the program is yours, so send us your ideas! To learn more, visit DirectorsCamp.com. Early bird registration discounts are available for those who bring a friend or who register before August 1st.Best wishes for a wonderful summer!
