The U.S. Department of Education recently released its Request for Proposals for the Investing in Innovation (i3) Grant Program. They expect to award nearly $150 million to only 22 recipients nationwide. As you may know, last year’s $650 million i3 competition resulted in 49 awards to projects at the cutting edge of education reform and evidence based practice.
To ensure that Chicago students benefit from the most competitive proposals possible, we want to identify promising projects and work with them throughout the proposal development process and beyond.
The attached document (also on our website) includes instructions for submitting a very brief application to partner with CPS for the i3 competition. Applications to partner with CPS are due on Friday, June 24. Please help us spread the word about this process by sharing this with organizations you believe may be working on i3 proposals.
Please note that CPS will not serve as a fiscal agent this year, and as such, we will not consider CPS department applications. In addition, please do not sign letters of support for any outside organizations that approach you.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Albert Sanchez, Director of Competitive Grants at asanchez@cps.k12.il.us.
We look forward to learning about and supporting innovative projects across Chicago. Thank you for your continued commitment to our students.
Warm Regards,
Andrea
