Position: EXECUTIVE CONSULTANT

Status: Contractual

Date Posted: July 10, 2011

Purpose: To assess the organization financial position, establish a development plan
and Implement actions leading to the organization funding development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct an assessment leading to identify potential organization opportunities to
increase funding leading to services and programs.
2. Lead a Strategic Planning process addressing the fundamental functions and
goals of the organization.
3. Complete and submit competitive multi-year federal, state and local grant
applications leading to improve the organization fiscal stability.
4. Provide continuity to the organization track and expertise focusing in prevention
and public health areas such as capacity building of CBA providers, public
education, community planning, diffusion of evidence-based interventions,
advocacy and community-based research.
5. Explore and establish relationship with foundations and private sponsors.
Conduct applications to funding streams that support the vision and mission of
the organization.
6. Review by-laws and fiscal procedures as these relate to funding development
activities.
7. Assist in Board Recruitment and development.
8. Search and create a listing of potential donors and funding resources.
9. Prepare materials and reports to inform the Acting Director and Board of
Directors about the progress of the development of the organization.
10. Work with the Acting Director develop public relations reports and materials to
illustrate potential donors about the benefits and who represent the programs
and benefits that the organization offers through specific programs and to the
community at large.
11. Identify partnerships or coalitions where funding opportunities may arise.
12. Identify federal and state policies that may result in programmatic initiatives (e.g.
Health Care Reform).

Position Outputs:
This consultant position is expected to produce upon completion of the first
month a assessment of potential opportunities and gaps that would improve
the fiscal progress of the agency .Identify a listing of funding sources, with
grant deadlines and application requirements. Obtain all necessary materials to
support grant applications.
By the second month should demonstrate skills and capacity by preparing and
submitting two full applications to federal, city or state funding opportunities.
Keep the rate of funding submissions in the following months between 3 to 4
applications a month.
By the third month should complete a listing of donors and establish a plan to
complete a fundraising campaign (including digital and other modalities of fund
development). Contact local and regional foundations and prepare applications
for upcoming funding cycles.
Prepare a yearly funding event. Solicit funding to private businesses to finance
funding events, programmatic activities and increase unrestricted funding.
Submit a monthly report of activities and outcomes to the Acting Director.



POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Experience in developing a short and long term
fiscal plan. Familiarity with the non-profit organizations, general management and
accounting procedures and prevention models that address the particular needs
of the Latino/Hispanic population in the Midwest. Formal training and certification
on organizational development.
