Limited Competition: Addressing Health Disparities in Maternal and Child Health through Community-Based Participatory Research
The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), requests applications to implement developmental community-based participatory research (CBPR) projects addressing health disparities. Eligible applicants are institutions of higher education especially Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian serving institutions; Hispanic-serving Institutions; Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs); and Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs). There is one award of $500,000 available. Application submission date is August 30, 2011.

Health Center Program grants support a variety of community-based and patient-directed public and private nonprofit organizations that serve an increasing number of the Nation's underserved. Eligible applicants are public or nonprofit private entity, such as a tribal, faith-based, or community-based organization providing Healthcare services. There is $82M available for up to 33 awards. The Women Helping Others Foundation
(WHO) The WHO (Women Helping Others) Foundation supports grassroots charities that serve the overlooked needs of women and children in the United States and Puerto Rico. The foundation prioritizes specific projects and programs that address health and social service needs. Eligible applicants are from nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations that have been incorporated for at least three years and that have total organizational budgets of $3 million or less. Grants range from $1,000 to $40,000. Application submission date is September 6, 2011.
Reducing Risk Behaviors by Promoting Positive Youth Development
The National Institutes of Health requests proposal to enhance the understanding of effective positive youth development programs and the mechanisms responsible for positive health and developmental outcomes. This will be accomplished through the development, implementation, and evaluation of new or improved positive youth development programs. Eligible applicants are non-for- profit and for-profit organizations and institutions of higher learning. Application submission date is September 7, 2011.
Comprehensive HIV Prevention Programs for Health Departments
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is requesting proposals to support implementation of high impact, comprehensive HIV prevention programs to achieve maximum impact on reducing new HIV infections. Research on Teen Dating Violence
The National Institutes of Health encourages investigator-initiated research grant applications from institutions/ organizations that propose to conduct behavioral and/or biomedical research aimed at better understanding the teen dating violence (TDV). Grants for Injury Control Research Centers
The CDC is requesting is to develop centers that conduct high quality research and help translate scientific discoveries into practice for the prevention and control of fatal and nonfatal injuries, violence, and related disabilities and serve as training centers as well as information centers for the public. Eligible applicants include public or private Institutions of Higher Education including Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs), Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, and nonprofits and for profit organizations. 2011 Safe Kids Safe Schools Fund
The Field Foundation has reactivated the Safe Kids, Safe Schools Fund to provide discretionary mini-grants of up to $5,000 to Chicago-area nonprofit organizations that are working to prevent, reduce and respond to gun violence among youth. Nonprofits will be eligible to apply to the 2011 Safe Kids, Safe Schools Fund effective May 15, 2011 through September 30, 2011.
GTECH After School Advantage Program
The GTECH After School Advantage Program is a national community investment program, which provides non-profit community agencies and public schools with state-of-the-art computer labs. Each applicant is awarded $15,000 in in-kind technology resources. This grant opportunity has a rolling application submission process.
