Safe Place Awareness Campaign

Safe Place Awareness Campaign

Youth Network Council launched an awareness campaign in July to inform youth in crisis that the Chicago Safe Place program is a way to access services in their own community and to notify community members about the program. The Chicago Safe Place Youth in Crisis public awareness campaign launched July 14th and will run through October 3rd. The campaign includes street benches, CTA platform screens, bus tails, bus interior cards, train interior cards, and prints ads in The Mash school newspaper.

Since the launch of the awareness campaign, the program received media coverage that we wanted to share with you: "A Program for Youth Safety Begins With Just a Sign" in the New York Times & "Focus on Family: Chicago Safe Place" on WGN News. Safe Place was also featured on the Cliff Kelley show, WVON 1690 AM and the Ty Wansley show, 107.5 FM WGCI and Inspiration 1390 AM.

Posters and brochures were created to mirror the public awareness campaign materials. If you are interested in receiving posters and brochures, send Liz an email: etracy@youthnetworkcouncil.org.

The campaign and pilot program were funded through a cooperative agreement from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The campaign was developed and directed in partnership with INOBTR through the Project Youth Safety grant.
