AIDS Foundation Challenge Grants

The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is pleased to invite you to apply for funding through our new 2011 Challenge Grants program. This year AFC plans to make 10-12 two-year grant awards averaging $40,000 ($20,000 per year). The two-year grant periods will begin January 1, 2012 and end on December 31, 2013. Programs that are successfully awarded funding through this cycle will be able to apply non-competitively for an additional year of funding if they have had satisfactory compliance of the Challenge Grants program requirements.

Agencies interested in applying for funds must return eight copies of the completed application, including budget and all attachments, to AFC no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011.

As with past funding opportunities, only organizations with 501(c)(3) status as determined by the Internal Revenue Service and operating in the Chicago metropolitan area are eligible to apply. Collaborations are encouraged.
Applicant agencies must:
1.      Be a member of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago Service Providers Council (SPC)
2.      Participate in the AIDS Run & Walk Chicago (ARWC – Community Direct) on October 1, 2011
3.      Meet the fundraising criteria in the application to be eligible to apply for a private grantmaking grant up to $20,000 in 2011.  (see table in application)

For this new application process there will be two Technical Assistance Meetings held at AFC. They will take place, to RSVP contact Donnise Gaffeney at dgaffeney@aidschicago.org

•Friday, September 23, 2011 – 1:00 -3:00 p.m
•Wednesday, October 4, 2011 – 10:00 am – 12:00 p.m.

It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that any agency planning on applying attends one of these technical assistance meetings. To register for the meetings please email Donnise Gaffeney at dgaffeney@aidschicago.org

All members of AFC’s Service Providers Council are encouraged to participate in and benefit from the 2011 AIDS Run & Walk Chicago scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 1, 2011. As a reminder, it is mandatory if you choose to apply for private grant funding.
