Drug-Free Action Alliance Programming: Here to assist your community-wide efforts!

Dear Prevention Partner:

As the state fiscal year 2011 comes to a close and fiscal year 2012 is nearing, Drug-Free Action Alliance is committed to continually providing outstanding substance abuse prevention initiatives for you and your community. We know that effective, evidence-based prevention practices are not a ‘one time thing’, but are made up of a variety of approaches for a comprehensive, community-wide strategy to reduce substance abuse.

Our initiatives utilize an environmental approach to prevent substance abuse in our communities, as shown in the Drug-Free Action Alliance Environmental Prevention Guide.

Parents Who Host, Lose the Most: Don't be a party to teenage drinking
, an initiative that addresses the consequences of parents hosting teen house parties where alcohol is available, is not merely an opportunity to raise awareness through media messages, but also serves as a platform for communities to address other environmental prevention strategies by working to limit alcohol access and availability, strengthening and enforcing laws through public policy, and changing community norms. To review and order Parents Who Host, Lose the Most: Don't be a party to teenage drinking materials, including the Campaign Kit, banners, yard signs and stickers, visit Drug-Free Action Alliance.org.

Drug Free 24/7 the way to go! provides a forum for communities to weave various ‘stand-alone’ prevention messages , such as Red Ribbon Week and the Great American Smokeout into a year round prevention strategy. Red Ribbon Week can serve as the opportunity to kickoff your social marketing prevention activities for the year. Monthly tips are available at DrugFree24-7.org to assist you and your community in sending the consistent message that substance abuse is unacceptable. To review and order Drug Free 24/7 the way to go! materials, including red ribbons, bookmarks, and pencils, visit DrugFree24-7.org.

Know! empowers parents to raise their children substance-free with free parent tips delivered twice a month directly to their email inbox. Know! provides information about the latest drug trends and emphasizes the importance of parents talking to their child about alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. A workbook has been developed to provide parents, grandparents and other caregivers with information about why youth choose to use. It also includes exercises to better communicate with their student. For additional information about Know! and to order the parent workbook, contact Michelle Morse at 614.540.9985 or MMorse@DrugFreeActionAlliance.org.

All of the proceeds generated from our initiative’s product sales enhance Drug-Free Action Alliance‘s continued efforts to raise awareness and reduce substance abuse.

In order to accommodate your year-end needs, standard orders placed before 12:00 p.m. EST will be invoiced and shipped the same day.

Sincerely,
Derek E. Longmeier, MBA, OCPS II
