Bad Tip Pool? Owed Tips, Min. Wages or OT? (All Chicago)
Are you owed pay by your current or former employer? Many restaurant employers
fail to pay servers all the wages required by state and federal law. Some
illegal pay practices include requiring servers to share tips with non-tipped
employees (e.g., managers, cooks), requiring servers to spend an excessive
amount of time performing non-tipped worked (e.g., excessive sidework, food
preparation, washing dishes), and failing to pay the full applicable minimum
wage for time spent performing non-tipped work (e.g., opening and closing the
restaurant). Many restaurants also base overtime pay on an illegally low tip
credit rate and not based on the full applicable minimum wage.

If you have questions whether you are owed wages, or if you have been subjected
to these or other illegal pay practices, we can help recover the wages that you
are owed. Please contact:
