Invitation/Registration to the R5 Technical Assistance Forum: WIA Youth Service Delivery Strategies

Greetings Youth peers, partners and providers! Attached is the invitation letter that was sent to WIA State Administrators from the ETA Regional Administrator for the Region 5 ETA/ASTD Technical Assistance Forum. The event will to be held at the Sax Hotel in Chicago, Illinois on October 17 -19, 2011. Please feel free to share that communication and this email invitation broadly among your state peers, youth councils, WIA youth service providers, and other youth serving partners. The Technical Assistance Forum will include a separate youth track to address WIA Youth Service Delivery Strategies. A professionally facilitated curriculum will have a program delivery focus and will be delivered over 2.5 days. State youth program administrators, Youth Council members and direct providers of youth services will engage in a facilitated peer-to-peer learning exchange on day-one and multiple workshops addressing key program areas of emphasis on day-two. Expected workshop and learning exchange topics include: • Improving employability skills through paid and unpaid work experience • Building capacity to increase credential attainment • WIA Youth 101: tutorial as orientation or refresher class • WIA fiscal and program reporting 101: tutorial as orientation or refresher class • Proving Career Pathways in high-demand sectors • Strengthening partnerships to leverage resources & opportunities • Improving Literacy/Numeracy Outcomes On-site registration will begin on the Monday afternoon before the training begins. Early arrivers are encouraged so they may attend the Show-and-Tell Networking Meeting! To enhance the casual networking experience, attendees are invited to make casual presentations or set up displays to highlight a premier activity or promising practice related to one of the WIA Youth Program Elements. Bring photos, curriculums, samples, etc. to share. For fun, one “gold-star” project will be selected for each of the 10 Youth Element categories. There is no fee for this WIA Youth technical assistance opportunity, but advanced registration is required. Youth track enrollment is limited, as is the room block, so we encourage you to make your reservations early. Registration and Hotel Information, including the room rate, can be found at: http://www.fallconferencesite.com/astd/region5.cfm If there are outstanding questions or concerns, please contact me at harris.lori@dol.gov Thanx!
